How did you acquire your Lutherie skills?

In 2004 I was planning to go to Galloup School but my life situation at the time did not permit it. So I bought every guitar and lutherie book I could get my hands on and studied them. When I got my doubleneck guitar in 2006. Because of humidity problems and being on the road performing for a couple of years. I was constantly repairing and adjusting my guitar. In the process I replaced all 18 tuners, 2 nuts and 2 saddles. Also I bought and sold acoustic and electric guitars on CL. I would repair them then sold or traded them. Then in February 2008, I visited the guitarshop in Rugby, VA and worked on a couple of my guitars including my doubleneck. This year, I joined GAL and attended their last convention. Also, I finally joined SLug (Seattle Luthiers Group). I intend to be active and contribute in any way I can.

Did you go to a Lutherie School?

No, hopefully someday go to Galloup School and take their Master Class. Hopefully a few summers from now.

Did you apprentice with a Luthier? If so, Who? When and how long?

No, I did not. But I visited the guitarshop of Wayne C. Henderson a few times. Staying one to two days at a time working on my guitars while he handmakes his legendary guitars until the early morning hours. He was the one who encouraged me to just start making my guitars and forego Lutherie School for now.

Yes, whenever possible.

I can offer advice and assistance in managing their internet presence. Specially in using Ning to their advantage.

Right now, I do not have access to a full shop. All I have is a hobby shop. Any assistance in the matter or renting shop space would be appreciated.
